Peter Pan!

I was finally able to (basically) complete Calvin's costume yesterday! I just had the belt and the knife to make and I was able to get them done. I'm still contemplating making some boot covers out of felt to make his boots look like Peter Pan's, but it depends on how much time I have after I finish Emma's Tinkerbell costume. I learned a lot of things while making this costume, and I wish I had known them before starting it, but I still think the costume turned out good. I absolutely love sewing and creating things for my kids. I can't wait to do Emma's costume. Here's some pics I took of Calvin in his costume on our Sunday walk yesterday:

So that's my little Peter Pan. Isn't he the cutest Peter Pan ever? :)

Halloween Crafts & Costumes

I've been absolutely loving doing Halloween crafts with my little man. So far we've made a pumpkin, a skeleton, and a Frankenstein mask & Vampire mask. I will post pics of the other projects tomorrow, but below are pics of Calvin painting and drawing the skeleton.

I have also been so excited to finally sew again! It's been a couple of months. The costumes are coming along so much better than I thought they would. The hat that I did today, I just looked at the pics of Peter Pan and figured it out from there. I wasn't expecting it to fit the first time around, but as soon as I put it on his head I realized it fit perfectly! He can even hang upside down and it doesn't fall off. I love it when things work out! And I absolutely love how much Calvin is loving his costume. I made the shirt yesterday, and ever since I finished his hat today he hasn't taken it off! I can't wait to finish the costumes up!

These booties were so easy to make. Here's the link to this awesome free pattern if anyone is interested: http://www.heatherbaileydesign.com/Booties.html
I got the glittery little pom poms and the felt from Michaels. The overall cost was less than $0.40!

Church & Calvin Camera

Another Sunday down. Have I mentioned how much I love church? We are meeting some awesome people there. I met a girl there named Crystal that I really liked; she works in nursery and looks to be about my age. We talked during nursery and she has a little boy that is Calvin's age. She also has two girls, one is around 2, and I think Calvin likes her. He was flirting with her at the end of church, lol. That boy.

Here are some pics of the church, since I said I would post them last week. Wanted you to see the "Iron Giant" doors, as Calvin calls them

Calvin actually went up to nursery by himself today, and then stayed there without me until he refused to put his toys away. Then he got upset when he was told he needed to put them away, so they had to bring him to me. So that's when I went up there and hung out. There are about 15 or so kids in nursery. Calvin is seeming to get used to it and really like it. I can't wait to start making playdates for him so he can have buddies to hang out with!

Calvin got a hold of my camera last night and the pics he took were so cute, I just had to share them:

I love how he is pointing at the camera with his left hand, and, well, I'm not sure what he's doing with the fingers on his right - but it sure is cute! And that smile! I love this little guy :)

Here is a preview of one of our Halloween crafts that we are working on. We have to go get some more materials before it's done though. I'm so excited that Calvin is old enough to be getting into crafts with me!

Sitting & Pumpkins

Today Emma started sitting up like a pro! I'm sure she probably could have done it sooner, but it just occurred to me last night that she is old enough to start sitting up. I honestly never know when the specific ages they are supposed to be doing things is. *I work with her on stuff and if she gets it, great, if she doesn't, I don't try to stress about if she's early or late. But she is doing awesome! Here are some pics of her accomplishment :)

Calvin snapped a picture of me while I was talking to Heather today.

And then around 4 we head down to the park because they were handing out free pumpkins and goodies bags! As you can see, there were a TON of people there.

Calvin decided to pout because they were playing the song "Ghostbusters", and he informed me that he hates that song.

So we went and got him a pumpkin so we could head back home. That way he wouldn't have to sit and endure such a horrible song ;)

The pumpkin was so big it had to take his spot in the stroller. Here he is buckling it up!

After that we headed back home and washed it off. Hopefully this weekend we'll get a chance to cut it up!

P.S. Another Calvin and Emma comparison picture! I think they are pretty close in age in these. They both even got the drool going on!

*I had to edit the post because when I reread I realized it made it sound like I don't work with my kids and just let them figure things out on their own. When I do work with them, a lot. I'm just not one of those moms that thinks they have to do things exactly when the books say they are supposed to; and then stress about it if they don't. I know that they learn things in their own time, and that each child is different.

Sunday Stroll

Yesterday we decided to go for a walk to the new awesome park they just put in a block or so away from us. Calvin was very excited to ride his bike there and he did awesome, even though it was a slight uphill on most of the way there. I decided to take some pics to share with you guys!
